Welcome to the International Conference
of the LOEWE Center DRUID 2024

Novel Drug Targets against Poverty-related and Neglected Tropical Infectious Diseases

June 9th, 5:00 pm – June 12th, 12:00 pm

More than a billion people in 149 countries worldwide suffer from poverty-related and neglected diseases (PRNDs) caused by infectious agents (viruses, bacteria, parasites, or fungi). PRNDs can assume highly acute, life-threatening progressive forms but frequently lead to severe chronic diseases. Combating them is urgent not only from a medical and humanitarian point of view, but also because it will make a decisive contribution to breaking poverty cycles.

DRUID (Novel Drug Targets against Poverty-related and Neglected Tropical Infectious Diseases) addresses urgent problems regarding the identification and characterization of potential targets for the development of drugs and diagnostics against tropical infectious diseases.

The International Conference of the LOEWE Centre DRUID will bring together scientists of multiple disciplines to report on their latest findings in the field of poverty-related and neglected diseases, to build new networks and to discuss new therapeutic approaches.

The program will include presentations from invited speakers and a poster session.
